New Synthetic Rubbers of PJSC «Nizhnekamskneftekhim» - Vagizov A.M., Khusainova G.R., Akhmetov I.G., Galimov R.R., Sakhabutdinov A.G.

Results of experimental-industrial development of the processing of production of functionalized solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) in PJSC «Nizhnekamskneftekhim» are presented. Copolymerization of butadiene with styrene is carried out continuously in hexane solution in presence of n-butyllithium – modifier initiator system. The mixture of amine-containing alkaline and alkaline-earth metal alcoholates is used as a modifier. The developed processing procedure also includes functionalization and oil-extension stages. Functionalization process is performed by the ends of «living» polymer chains by introducing of nitrogen- and oxygen-containing compounds. The oil-extension is carried out using TDAE oil. Comprehensive tests of SSBR samples were conducted among them on «IDIADA» (Spain) and «DEKRA» (France) proving grounds. By the set of properties SSBR test samples are as good as the best foreign analogues. The tires on its base even exhibit the higher wet grip characteristics. New rubber grades such as SBR-2560F and SBR-2560FM are utilized on an industrial scale.

Physical and Mechanical Characteristics of Polyisoprene Obtained Using Solvate of Gadolinium Chloride-Based Catalyst - Levkovskaya E.I., Vasilev V.A., Bubnova S.V., Tsypkina I.M.

Polyisoprene synthesized using alcoholic solvate of gadolinium chloride is shown to be close by molecular characteristics to «neodymium» polyisoprene obtained with similar catalyst. An essential advantage of «gadolinium» polymer is highly homogeneous microstructure. Samples of «gadolinium» polyisoprene of Mooney viscosity from 60 to 90, of the total absence of gel fraction and of 98,7 – 99,1 % cis-1,4-unit content have been synthesized. Studies have been made on physical and mechanical properties of «gadolinium» polyisoprene. The properties were compared to those of «neodymium» isoprene rubber (commercial SKI-5PM). More regular microstructure of «gadolinium» polyisoprene in comparison with «neodymium» one results in higher strength and dynamic properties of rubbers. Fatigue strength for commercial SKI-5PM of Mooney viscosity 78,8 is near 81000 cycles while «gadolinium» sample of nearly similar Mooney viscosity is 94000 cycles; for «gadolinium» polymer of Mooney viscosity 85 and 90 it is 100000 cycles. There are also advantages of «gadolinium» polyisoprene in tear resistance, tensile strength and some other properties.

Paraffin oil Influence on the Structure of Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Vulcanizates - Solomatin D.V., Kuznetsova O.P., Zvereva U.G., Prut E.V.

Vulcanization of EPDM with different content of paraffin oil was investigated. Content of zol-gel fraction and cross-link density of EPDM vulcanizates were determined. Structure of EPDM vulcanizates was investigated by AFM method. It was demonstrated that the vulcanization occurs rather non-uniformly throughout the sample volume. The images show both weakly and densely crosslinked regions: more dark unstructured regions are related to the zones with a lower crosslink density compared to lighter regions. EPDM with paraffin oil showed a more uniform distribution of crosslinks throughout the sample.

Study of the Influence of Processing Additives on the Properties of Rubber Based on Epichlorohydrin and Propylene Oxide Rubbers - Reznikov M.S., Ushmarin N.F., Egorov E.N., Sandalov S.I.

The influence of processing additives on the properties of rubbers based on the combination of domestic and imported epichlorohydrin and propylene oxide rubbers were studied. Sorbitan monostearate (ester of sorbitol and citric acid) and monostearylcitrate (ester of citric and stearic acid) were used as processing aids. It was found that the introduction of sorbitan monostearate and monostearylcitrate results in reduces of the adhesion of the rubber to the working surfaces of the processing equipment and increase of the mechanical characteristics by improving the degree of dispersion of the components. The best results for composites of sorbitan monostearate are obtained. It is shown that the compositions based on domestic rubbers have the higher values of mechanical characteristics than that based on import rubbers. Increase of the resistance to heat aggresive environments for rubbers of processing aids is also shown.

Effect of Carbon Morphology on the Content of the Interfacial Layers in Filled Elastomers - Kablov V.F., Petryuk I.P.

Strong rubber/filler interaction results in formation of an elastomer interphase area on the border. Its properties differ from that of the other part of elastomer and its existence has the essential effect on the properties of composite elastomer material. Dependence of volume fractions φδ of an interphase layers on volume fraction φí of fillers of different particles shape and structure were calculated. For individual particles and linear structure φδ are of higher values. Dependencies have a maximum of φδ at different φí: for individual particles and linear structure nearly at 0.1, for ellipsoidal aggregates at 0.3. Results were compared with the data for DBF adsorption of different technical carbon black brands of identical specific surface and different structure (N326, N330, N351, N358). The higher the carbon black particles are accessible for elastomer macromolecules, the higher is the interphase layers content. So carbon black of chain structure shows the higher φδ, îf ellipsoidal aggregates – the less. The results open the possibility to predict optimum contents of different ingredients in elastomer composites.

Study of the Possible Application of Shungite in Formulations of Latex Rubber for the Manufacture of Gloves with High Resistant to Aggressive Environments - Kravchenko E.S., Potapov E.E., Bobrov A.P, Smal V.A., Plotnikova M.F., Erokhin A.E.

The possibility to obtain the latex composition based on NR latex «Kwalitecs» filled (20–30 rhp) with shungite (Karålit) was studied. Earlier the possibility to obtain similar composition was shown for NR latex «Revultex» containing vulcanizing group. So all the composition studied contain vulcanizing group (S, ethylzimate, ZnÎ) and were vulcanized at 125 °C. Water dispersion of Karålit with dispergator NF was added in latex, filler content was the same as in composition for standard acid-alkali resistant gloves. Mechanical properties of films of these compositions were of the same or even better level, acid-alkali resistance is much better. Acid-alkali resistant gloves of NR latex «Kwalitecs» filled with Karålit meet all the technical requirements and showed the better acid-alkali resistance at long time tests.

Suspension copolymerization of isobutylene isoprene in tubular turbulent reactor: kinetics of chemical processes, mass and heat transfer - Tereshchenko K.A., Ulitin N.V.

The calculation of macrokinetics of butyl rubber synthesis (cationic copolymerization of isobutylene with isoprene on the AlCl3 catalyst among CH3Cl, the initial synthesis temperature is 173 K) in a tubular reactor turbulent cylindrical type have been made. It has been established that with the decrease of size of the reaction zone (cylinder diameter from 0,2 to 0,1 m) and speed of the reaction slurry (from 10 to 1 m/s) the number average (from 91 700 to 1360) and weight average (from 257 000 to 134 000) molecular weight of butyl rubber synthesized will decrease at the increase of its polydispersity (from 2,8 to 110).
