Comparative Characteristic Properties of Oil- and Bio-Based EPDM-Rubbers – Grima M.A., Hough Ph., Taylor D., Urk M.V. (P. 8)

Company LANXESS produced the first bio-based ethylene-propylene-diene rubbers (EPDM) Keltan Eco at the end of 2011. Nothing but ethylene obtained by dehydrogenation of ethanol from sugar cane is in use. Comparison of the of regular Keltan with Keltan Eco is presented. This evaluation has demonstrated that Keltan 5470 Eco and Keltan 5470 are identical. Keltan 5470 Eco therefore offers to rubber compounding technologists a realistic solution to the challenge of developing the more sustainable products.

Effect of Zinc Oxide on the Peroxide Vulcanization of Fluorine Rubber SKF-32 – Sokolova L.V., Nepomnjaschji A.F., Kanauzova A.A., Reznichenko S.V. (P. 18)

Comparative analysis on the structure-forming activity of the organic peroxides on the mineral bearers of domestic production at the vulcanization of fluorine rubber SKF-32 was carried out. The degree of cross linking of elastomers is depended not only on the chemical structure and concentration of the peroxide, but also on quantity and nature of the mineral bears.

Properties of Vulcanizates Based on Silicone Rubber Modified by Organoclay – Gadelshin R.N., Khakimullin Yu.N,, Lygina T.Z. Trofimova F.A., Gubaidullina A.M., Naumkina N.I. (P. 34)

The efficiency of the use of different types of organoclays in compounds based on the silicone rubber was studied. It was determined that the addition of organoclay up to 5phr results in increasing of physical and mechanical properties, thermal stability and swelling resistance (the toluene was used as a solvent). The improvement of the properties of vulcanizates due to the interaction of the rubber and organoclay is sown to be connected with the formation of nanocomposite.

Study of the Influence of Low Temperatures on Rubbers – Shilov I.B., Fomin S.V., Durnev E.A., Khlebov G.A., Kiroski  D. (P. 40)

Effect of low temperatures on properties of vulcanizates based on NR, SBR and their blends has been studied. Decrease of resistance to growth of cracks in NR-based vulcanizates is shown. Cyclic action of low temperatures results in the change of mechanical properties of rubbers and formation of microcracks on their surface. Role of orientation and crystallization is under discussion. Water absorption in composition of rubber to prevent formation of microcracks is recommended.
